Daily Exercise Promotes Health

Dao-In and Mobility

As the saying above from Lao Zi says, being rigid is the way of death, but being supple is the way of life.

Everyone should at a minimum be doing daily joint mobility exercises, to keep their joints healthy and free of stagnation, that can lead to stiffness, pain and diseases like arthritis.

Simple exercises are just using full range of motion of your joints; fingers, elbows, shoulders, hips, knees, neck, etc.

But this isn't enough, as we also have the muscles and tendons to think about. So a daily program of muscle stretches are good too. Muscles, especially with lots of hard work, cause tension and lessened flexibility, therefore we should work to balance out this aspect of our lives and body.

Just daily movements is a start, or you can learn Dao-In, a form of ancient Chinese exercise that not only increases flexibility, but also is a way to cultivate your Qi and your spirituality.

Qi Gong (Chi Kung)

Qi Gong is a form of cultivating your Qi, through the series of exercises while focusing on the breath and movement of the Qi in the body. Surveys taken in China has found that people who practice any kind of Qi Gong were much less prone to disease and aging.

Tai Ji Quan (Tai Chi Chuan)

Tai Ji Quan has been proven through western medicine studies to benefit a person in the following ways:

  • Increases physical strength (particularly lower limb muscles)
  • Reduces stress
  • Increases energy
  • Improves coordination
  • Increase circulation
  • Improves body sense (improves joint proprioception)
  • Improves posture
  • Helps lose weight (as part of an overall program)
  • Massages the internal organs
  • Improves mental focus and concentration
  • Brings about mental stillness
  • Improves mental flexibility
  • Brings inner peace
  • Gives a sense of centerness and balance in life
  • Gives a sense of connectedness and harmony with nature

White-Eagle practices a few forms of Tai Ji/Qi Gong and is considering teaching some classes in 2011. For more information contact us (720) 317-2695
